Companies headquartered in Franklin, TN, and the city's largest employers

Key takeaway

Companies headquartered in Franklin, TN include Nissan's Americas operations, Community Health Systems and Ramsey Solutions, but the largest employer is a hospital. If your offer is from one of them, map the campus first and search homes around it.

Franklin's largest companies and employers in 2023

Williamson Medical Center is Franklin's largest employer, so a hospital outranks every corporate headquarters on the City's list. If you have an offer, plot the campus on a map before you look at a single house: the office sets the commute, and the ZIP around it sets the price.

No single company dominates: the top employer holds 1,900 of the list's 13,903 jobs, so a Franklin job market doesn't rise or fall with one employer. The list comes from the City's audited financial report for fiscal 2023, the latest opened for this guide, with job counts from Williamson, Inc., the county's chamber. A fiscal 2025 report exists on the City's site.

If you work in health care administration, billing or technology, that's the deepest pool of employers in the city for a second job later on.

Is Nissan headquartered in Nashville?

No. Nissan's Americas headquarters is in Franklin, in Williamson County. The confusion comes from the move itself: Nissan worked from temporary offices in downtown Nashville for two years before the Franklin building opened.

Why Nissan moved its headquarters from California to Tennessee

Nissan announced in November 2005 that it would move its Americas corporate offices from Gardena, California, to Middle Tennessee, and the move was complete by mid-2006, working from downtown Nashville until the Franklin campus opened in 2008. By then Nissan had about 8,000 employees in Tennessee, so the headquarters joined an existing manufacturing base in the state. Nissan's own announcement is the place to read its stated reasons.

Moving from California with a Nissan job

If you're relocating from California with Nissan or a supplier, the money changes are housing and taxes. Tennessee doesn't tax wages, and Zillow's typical Franklin home is $913,277 (September 2026). The guide to moving from California to Tennessee works through both.

Who is the largest employer in Franklin, TN?

Williamson Medical Center, with 1,900 jobs in the City's 2023 report. It moved up from third place in 2014, when it had 1,449.

Williamson Medical Center in Franklin vs CHS since 2014

The hospital added 451 jobs between the 2014 and 2023 counts while CHS, the old leader, lost 2,679. Franklin's top employer is now a hospital. The City's report doesn't give campus addresses, so map the hospital from your offer letter and price homes around it the same way as the office campuses below.

How Franklin's companies have changed since 2014

CHS lost 2,679 jobs, Williamson Medical Center took first place, and the listed employers' share of city jobs fell from 39.76% to 27.42%, though 2014 counts a top 10 and 2023 a top 14.

Franklin employers that left the list

Several 2014 names are gone from the 2023 list: United Health (1,166), Healthways (1,160), Verizon Wireless (1,000), Ford Motor Credit (750), MedSolutions (700) and Optum (700). Cigna, Schneider Electric, Ramsey Solutions and Mars Petcare took their places.

What a spread-out job base means for a Franklin move

With the biggest employers holding a smaller share of jobs, a layoff at one company moves less of the local economy than it did a decade ago. For a household relocating on one job, that matters: if the role changes, there are more large employers within reach. The City's report put Franklin's unemployment at 2.8% in June 2023, against 3.8% for Tennessee and the U.S.

Moving to Franklin for a job at one of these companies

Your offer sets two things before you look at homes: the campus and the relocation package. Start with the campus.

Franklin home search around your company's campus

Search outward from the office, and price the ZIP before the house. Here are the campuses with a published address, the ZIP they sit in and what Zillow's typical home there costs a month in principal and interest (20% down, 7.4%):

EmployerCampusZIP and typical valuePrincipal and interest
Nissan AmericasOne Nissan Way37067, $941,539About $5,215
Community Health Systems4000 Meridian Boulevard37067, $941,539About $5,215
Ramsey Solutions1011 Reams Fleming Boulevard37064, $901,467About $4,993

For a Nissan or CHS badge in 37067, the Brentwood and Nolensville ZIPs pull in opposite directions: Brentwood's 37027 runs $1,220,331, while Nolensville's 37135 is $815,890, about $700 a month less in principal and interest than 37067. Then price each area in the Franklin cost of living budgets and compare commutes in the Franklin commute guide.

Relocation packages from Franklin companies

Ask HR whether the package runs through a relocation management company, what it covers (home sale, temporary housing, closing costs, a house-hunting trip) and how long you have to use it. Packages differ between employers, and some benefits expire if you don't claim them in time. Bill can coordinate a home search around your package's deadlines. The Franklin relocation guide lays out the rest of the move.
